On the morning of June 6th, the first meeting of the International Science, Technology&Innovation Forum of Boao Forum for Asia 2025 Hong Kong Conference focused on the role of youth in technological innovation. More than ten young officials, scholars, and entrepreneurs from Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Spain, and China participated in this youth roundtable conference. Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Legislative Council member (from the technology and innovation sector) Qiu Dagen presided over the meeting. Zhang Jun, Secretary General of the Boao Forum for Asia, attended the conference.

The attending youth discussed the theme of "Intelligent, Green, Inclusive Future and Youth Leadership" based on their respective countries and industries' practices and reflections. Young people believe that this theme reflects the development trend of the current era. The future of intelligence is not only about artificial intelligence or automation, but also about the potential of humanity. A green future is the foundation of sustainable development and one of the fundamental directions for future technological development. An inclusive future is a necessity for achieving common development among all countries. Regardless of race, gender, background, or faith, it is essential to ensure that every voice can be heard.

Creating an intelligent, green, and inclusive future relies on the role of youth. Youth are not only tomorrow's leaders, but also today's changers. The government and society should work together to enable young people to better engage in and lead innovative development. Especially for developing countries and vulnerable groups, it is necessary to create more opportunities for participation and improve the digital skills of young people through policy support. The government can support the development of young innovators and startups by providing training, guidance, and small funding, and attach importance to addressing the practical difficulties faced by small and micro entrepreneurs. We need to strengthen international youth exchanges in the field of innovation, share knowledge, best practices, and creative ideas. Especially around accelerating the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, enabling young people from various countries to strengthen communication and coordinate actions with experts and government agencies. For young people themselves, they should adhere to being down-to-earth, innovate from real problems, not be led by hot topics, but rooted in local needs and practical scenarios. We should proactively connect with regulators and rules, and actively strengthen communication and collaboration with all parties involved.

Secretary General Zhang Jun expressed that he is pleased to hear everyone's shared opinions and suggestions. The world is currently undergoing a major transformation, facing a series of significant challenges, and all parties are exploring solutions. No matter what plan, it cannot be separated from the active participation and even leading role of young people. That is why the Boao Forum for Asia attaches great importance to the role of youth, actively building platforms and providing opportunities for their development, and launching youth training programs mainly aimed at Asian countries.

Secretary General Zhang Jun hopes that young people can gain five insights from the discussion. One is to actively shoulder the responsibility of creating a better future; Secondly, we need to cultivate a long-term and international perspective; Thirdly, we should start by solving the problems around us and take practical actions; Fourthly, we should play a positive role in enhancing mutual trust and cooperation among countries; The fifth is to keep up with the latest technological developments, master and make good use of the latest technological achievements. I hope that young people will not only be participants in this discussion, but also messengers, sharing their own gains with more young people and inspiring them to contribute to building a better future together.
